Remote Tester Circuit

Level:- Beginners

You Require:-

1. Tsop 1738 Sensor
2. Resistors 47Ω, 330Ω
3. LED

This is a simple Remote tester circuit which can check all types of Remote control used for T.V.s , DVD Players , HOME THEATERS.
This simple remote tester can be a good tool to check whether a remote hand set is working or not. It uses the commonly available IR sensor TSOP 1738. This sensor consists of in-built PIN diode and pre-amplifiers enclosed in a epoxy casing which acts as IR filter.

The sensor requires regulated 5V supply which can be provided by the Power Supply Circuit. Resistor R1 is used to limit the current through the sensor. The output pin of the sensor remains high in idle state. When the sensor receives signal from a functional remote, the output Pin goes low and thus the LED connected to the pin glows.

The datasheet of the TSOP 1738 sensor can be downloaded here.
